Maruti Suzuki’s SUV lineup could soon welcome a new addition to its lineup, believed to be a 7-seater version of the popular Grand Vitara has been spotted undergoing tests. The camouflaged test mule, codenamed Y17, was recently spotted testing in India. Here, let’s take a look at what we can expect from the speculated model.

As seen in the images, the model which will go against the likes of Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcaraz, retains the familiar design language of the standard Grand Vitara. However, it features a visibly extended rear section to accommodate the third row of seats. Moreover, while the front fascia remains hidden under wraps, hints of design inspiration from the electric e-Vitara are apparent, suggesting a slightly refreshed look.

Speaking of interiors, the 7-seater Grand Vitara is expected to sport a reworked cabin layout. We can expect the model to feature a larger, free-standing touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard. Other upgrades could include the introduction of ADAS features and more.

Mechanically, the new SUV is likely to share the same C-platform as its 5-seater sibling. Powertrain options are also expected to remain unchanged, with the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine and the 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid system in play.
