Kia Syros new design details teased, debuts on December 19: What to expect
Kia India is gearing up for the global unveiling of its newest compact SUV, the Kia Syros, on December 19, 2024. Positioned between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia’s lineup, the Syros is set to debut in the fiercely competitive compact SUV segment. This eagerly awaited model will be showcased to the public at the Bharat Mobility Expo, where its pricing is also expected to be announced.
The Kia Syros will take on rivals such as the Skoda Kushaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Venue and other similarly priced SUVs. The company has been drip teasing the design and features of the SUV, and the latest one shows its side profile. Here’s what to expect from the model.
Kia Syros: Design
The Kia Syros features vertically stacked LED headlamps and unique DRL arrangement, inspired by the latest Carnival. Its side profile showcases flush-fitting door handles, squared-off wheel arches, a blacked-out C-pillar, and chunky roof rails, offering a sleek yet functional look. The overall design leans towards an MPV-inspired silhouette, blending practicality with style. Overall, it gets a boxy, tallboy sort of design.
Kia Syros: Cabin and features
Inside, the Syros is expected to include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a new 2-spoke steering wheel with integrated drive and terrain mode controls, and a futuristic aircraft-style gear shifter. Other premium features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging pad, multiple USB Type-C ports, and a multi-layer dashboard with physical buttons for frequently used functions.
While official powertrain details remain under wraps, it is anticipated that the Syros will borrow its engines from the Kia Sonet. This includes a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Gearbox options are expected to range from a 5-speed manual to advanced automatics, including IMT, AT, and DCT options.
