2025 Skoda Kodiaq vs Toyota Fortuner: Price, features, engine, specs compared
Skoda Auto India recently launched the next-generation Skoda Kodiaq SUV in the Indian market. The SUV in its second generation features an updated design, improved dynamics, a new interior layout, additional features, added safety and a lot more. The bookings for the new SUV are underway, interested customers can book it online or by visiting their nearest Skoda dealership, with deliveries set to begin in May. The SUV competes with the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Meridian, Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. Toyota Fortuner vs Skoda Kodiaq: Price, variants
The new Skoda Kodiaq is offered in a single petrol engine option and two variants – L&K and Sportline priced at Rs 48.69 lakh and Rs 46.89 lakh (ex-showroom, respectively). The Kodiaq continues to be locally assembled in the brand’s plant in Chakan, Maharashtra.
The Fortuner, on the other hand, is offered in two engine options and multiple variants priced between Rs 35.4 lakh to Rs 52 lakh (ex-showroom). The entry-level model is priced nearly Rs 11 lakh less than the Kodiaq, while the fully-loaded version costs roughly Rs 3.25 lakh more, offering a wide pricing range. The Fortuner is locally manufactured at the brand’s plant in Bidadi, Karnataka.
Toyota Fortuner vs Skoda Kodiaq: Dimensions
In terms of dimensions, the Kodiaq measures 4759 mm in length, 1864 mm in width, and 1679 mm in height and the SUV has grown by 61mm from 4.69 metres to 4.75 metres, but the wheelbase and width remain the same at 2.71 metres and 1.8 metres respectively. Skoda claims the drag Coefficient of the new Kodiaq has been reduced to cd = 0.282. The Fortuner, on the other hand, measures 4795 mm in length, 1855 mm in width, 1835 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2745 mm. While the Skoda Kodiaq is a bit wider and has a slightly longer wheelbase, the Toyota Fortuner has greater length and height.

This is where the Kodiaq shines, the SUV comes loaded with features when compared to the Fortuner. The Kodiaq gets a 13.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster with a HUD display, 15w wireless smartphone charging with active cooling, unique LED ambient light strip placements and umbrella storage at the front doors. Other features include connected car tech, an in-built navigation system, a premium sound system, hands-free parking, 360-degree cameras, three-zone automatic climate control, and heated and ventilated front seats with a massage function.
Talking about the features in Fortuner, it gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, semi-digital cluster, 8-way power-adjustable and ventilated driver and co-driver seats, an 11-speaker JBL audio system, front parking sensors, ambient lighting, wireless charger and more. Safety-wise, it gets a rear camera with sensors, seven airbags, stability control, ABS with EBD, hill assist control and more.
Toyota Fortuner vs Skoda Kodiaq: Engine and Gearbox
The Skoda Kodiaq is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol engine with 201 bhp of power at 4500-6000 rpm and 320 Nm torque at 1500-4400 rpm. It comes paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox, which sends power to all four wheels.
Fortuner, on the other hand, is offered in two engine options – a 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder, NA petrol engine with 166 PS of power and 245 nm torque. Another engine is the 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine with 204 PS of power and 420 nm torque (MT) and 500 nm torque in (AT) variants. The petrol engine gets a 5-speed MT or 6-speed torque converter AT gearbox option with 4×2. The diesel engine gets a 6-speed MT or 6-speed torque converter AT gearbox option with 4×2 and 4×4 options.
